Aw, yeah: People finally like the new ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ design

By Nicole Gallucci

Sonic the Hedgehog, star of the upcoming animated film Sonic the Hedgehog, is looking like a whole new hedgehog.

Fans were outraged after the initial trailer for the movie dropped in April, because Sonic looked too different from the classic character everyone knows and loves. The early rendering of Sonic had small eyes, strange-looking legs, and a fucking set of human teeth for goodness sake. The design simply wasn’t acceptable, and after a frightening amount of criticism from fans the animators vowed to do right and recreate him.

Cut to today, when the new Sonic the Hedgehog trailer was released and all was made right in the world for Sonic fans. Sonic now appears with larger eyes, teeth more suitable for an animated hedgehog, and overall better vibes. See for yourself.

Months after Twitter users collectively lost their cool over the original Sonic design, they’re now rejoicing to celebrate the new one and at long last everyone seems genuinely excited for the movie.

It’s honestly insane even LOOKING at the old Sonic design, it doesn’t even feel real anymore. It’s like we all collectively had a nightmare pic.twitter.com/a3H6OtHI3p

In conclusion. God, i am so happy this actually happened. Hard to believe but paramount actually pulled it off with the help with sega and sonic fans alike, and for that i deeply commend them. If none of us spoke out this would have never happened so i’m just gonna say; Thank u.- pic.twitter.com/54kuYbmX7o

Abomination Sonic should be a villain in the sequel

Sadly, because Sonic took a while to get his glow up, the Sonic the Hedgehog movie release date was pushed back. The film which was supposed to be released in November, but will now come out on Feb. 13, 2020.

The setback isn’t ideal, but director Jeff Fowler is happy the team took the time to perfect Sonic and make fans happy.

Today is the DAY! Could not be more excited to share our new Sonic with you. THANK YOU for your patience and support. This wouldn’t have been possible without the fans. #SonicMovie
